Designed as a Complete Desktop Audio Centre
The ID6 is designed as a complete desktop audio centre, combining network streaming, local music playback, USB DAC functionality, digital I/O, line output, preamplifier output, and high-power headphone amplification in one compact chassis. It can serve as a complete headphone system, a digital source for an existing Hi-Fi setup, or the control center of a compact two-channel system.
Cayin Tube Heritage in a Modern Platform
Drawing on 33 years of vacuum-tube audio experience, the ID6 uses classic 12AU7 dual-triode tubes cascaded with MOS-FETs to create two distinct tube timbres, alongside a separate Solid-State timbre. This gives users three clearly differentiated sound presentations within one device.
Modern Digital Architecture
A customized Android 14 platform, Rockchip RK3576 processor, bit-perfect USB Audio and I²S paths, dual ES9082Q DACs operating in MONO mode, and XMOS XU316 USB processing form the core of the ID6 digital section, with support up to PCM 32-bit/768kHz and Native DSD512.
Built for both Headphones and Stereo Systems
The four-channel fully balanced, fully discrete headphone amplifier supports Class A and Class AB operation and delivers up to 4.0W + 4.0W into 16Ω balanced. Balanced XLR and single-ended RCA line/preamp outputs, together with extensive digital connectivity, allow the ID6 to integrate into a wide range of desktop and two-channel systems.
Flexible Library Access and Control
Dual-band Wi-Fi, wired Ethernet, Qualcomm QCC5125 Bluetooth, USB storage playback, a dedicated M.2 NVMe 2280 SSD bay, a 6-inch FHD+ touch display, real-time spectrum and VU-meter visualization, and Cayin Control App support make the ID6 suitable for both streaming-focused and locally stored music libraries.
Switchable-Timbre Design that Blends Tube and Solid-State Circuitry on One Platform
The Cayin ID6 centers on a switchable-timbre design that blends tube and solid-state circuitry on one platform. Users can select Classic Tube for warmth and vocal intimacy, Modern Tube for a wider soundstage with tighter bass, or Solid-State for maximum precision and detail. This flexibility comes from a 12AU7 dual-triode tube architecture cascaded with MOS-FETs, complete with a viewing window that shows off the glowing filaments as a nod to Cayin’s tube heritage. On the digital side, the device runs a customized Android 14 platform on Rockchip’s octa-core RK3576 chip, enabling smooth streaming, fast library scans, and multitasking alongside high-resolution local playback.
Custom-Designed Transformers
Under the hood, the ID6 is built for bit-perfect, high-fidelity signal paths. It supports PCM up to 32-bit/768kHz and native DSD512 through optimized USB Audio and I²S transmission, backed by dual ES9082Q DACs run in MONO mode — one per channel — for better separation, SNR, and dynamic range. Amplification comes from a fully discrete, four-channel balanced topology using Nexperia audio-grade transistors, with selectable Class A/AB operation and a DC-Servo circuit, delivering up to 4.0W + 4.0W into 16Ω. USB audio is handled by a 16-core XMOS XU316 chip supporting UAC1.0/2.0 across major operating systems, while a toroidal-transformer-based linear power supply keeps digital and analog sections electrically separate to reduce noise.

Beyond the core audio engine, the ID6 is designed as a full system hub. It offers extensive storage and networking options — dual-band Wi-Fi, Ethernet, Qualcomm QCC5125 Bluetooth, USB drives, card readers, and an internal M.2 NVMe 2280 SSD bay — plus a 6-inch FHD+ touchscreen with spectrum visualization, a VU-meter display, and a track-format indicator ring around the volume knob. It connects via balanced XLR, RCA, HDMI I²S/ARC, coaxial and optical I/O, and USB, and integrates with the CayinControl app for timbre switching and device management, with more app features planned through future firmware updates.
