SMSL D100: High-Resolution ESS ES9081 DAC
The SMSL D100 is based on the ESS ES9081 converter, a professional-grade chip employed here in an eight-channel parallel summing architecture. This design enables a dynamic range of up to 127dB while ensuring extremely detailed sound reproduction. The D100 supports high-resolution audio files up to PCM 32bit 768kHz, native DSD512, and MQA decoding, providing broad compatibility with demanding music libraries and streaming services.

SMSL D100: Balanced Headphone Amplifier
The D100 incorporates a true balanced headphone amplification stage designed to provide silent and accurate sound reproduction. It features a single-ended 6.35mm jack output and a balanced 4.4mm Pentaconn output, capable of driving a wide variety of headphones, including high-impedance models up to 600Ω. With a maximum output power of 400mW, it delivers dynamic and controlled listening performance suitable for both portable headphones and audiophile reference models.

SMSL D100: Preamplifier Function and Volume Control
Thanks to its RCA line outputs, the SMSL D100 can be used either as a pure DAC or as a preamplifier. Its integrated volume control allows direct adjustment of the output level to drive a power amplifier or a pair of active speakers. The line outputs can therefore operate at either fixed or variable level depending on the system requirements. This versatility helps simplify a Hi-Fi setup while maintaining precise volume control directly from the D100 itself.
